RESUMEN

Metro systems play a crucial role in public transportation worldwide. Given that metro stations are unique built environments with a significant volume of daily commuters, ensuring a satisfactory air quality in these spaces becomes paramount. This study involved measurements of indoor air quality (IAQ), staff satisfaction, particulate matter (PM) chemical composition, and heavy metal health risks at a typical metro station in Tianjin over two seasons. Although the air exchange rate was sufficient to maintain a CO2 concentration less than 1000 ppm, the proportion of staff reporting no sick-building symptoms decreased from 83 % in spring to 25 % in winter. An average mass concentration of PM with an aerodynamic diameter smaller than 2.5 µm (PM2.5) of 68.0 ± 42.2 µg/m3 and an average PM1 mass concentration of 51.8 ± 33.3 µg/m3 were observed on the platform in winter. PM2.5 contained more metal in winter than in spring. PM2.5 in winter contained more metal in winter than in spring. With a lower relative humidity in winter, the coefficient of friction between railway wheels and rails increased, thus increasing particle emission. The carcinogenic risk of Cr on the platform was unacceptable. Moreover, the health risks induced by Ba should be investigated. The findings indicate that PM control at metro stationss, particularly on platforms in winter, should be emphasized.

RESUMEN

To explore the distribution characteristics of paddy soil and rice AS content, as well as the health risks of rice consumption, and to evaluate the safe planting ability of rice, 209 paddy soil samples and 1 567 groups of paddy soil-rice samples were collected, their As content and basic soil physical and chemical properties were determined, and the single-factor pollution index method was used to evaluate the pollution degree of the samples. The results showed that:① the soil of paddy fields in Guizhou Province was mainly neutral, and its fertilizer retention capacity and organic matter content were above the medium level, and the soil was relatively fertile. The range of ω(As) in paddy soil was 0.042-91.75 mg·kg-1, the geometric mean was 10.03 mg·kg-1, and the cumulative effect of paddy soil As was lower than that of natural soil As (P<0.05) by independent sample T. Compared with the screening value (0.2 mg·kg-1) of the Soil Pollution Risk Management and Control Standard for Agricultural Land (GB 15618-2018), the excess rate of soil samples was 15.37%. ② The ω (As) range of rice grain samples was 0.001-0.937 mg·kg-1, the geometric average value was 0.108 mg·kg-1, 10.21% of the rice grain samples exceeded the limit value of "Limit of Contaminants in Food (trial)" (GB 2762-2022), and the locations where the exceedances are mainly found are in the central and northern parts of Qiannan Prefecture, as well as around industrial and mining activity zones in the southern counties and districts of Zunyi. ③ As ingested through rice posed non-carcinogenic risk and carcinogenic risk for adults and children, and the impact on children was greater than that of adults. There is no strict control area for safe rice planting in Guizhou Province, and rice can be safely planted.

RESUMEN

The taxonomic status of some species of Halobellus, Haloferax, Halogranum, and Haloplanus within the family Haloferacaceae was elucidated by phylogenetic, phylogenomic, and comparative genomic analyses. The relative species of each genus should constitute a single species based on the overall genome-related indexes proposed for species demarcation. The cutoff values of AAI (72.1%), ANI (82.2%), and rpoB' gene similarity (90.7%) were proposed to differentiate genera within the family Haloferacaceae. According to these standards, a novel genus related to the genus Halobaculum was proposed to accommodate Halobaculum halophilum Gai3-2 T and Halobaculum salinum NJ-3-1 T. Five halophilic archaeal strains, DT31T, DT55T, DT92T, SYNS20T, and YSMS11T, isolated from a tidal flat and a marine solar saltern in China, were subjected to polyphasic classification. The phenotypic, phylogenetic, phylogenomic, and comparative genomic analyses revealed that strains DT31T (= CGMCC 1.18923 T = JCM 35417 T), DT55T (= CGMCC 1.19048 T = JCM 36147 T), DT92T (= CGMCC 1.19057 T = JCM 36148 T), SYNS20T (= CGMCC 1.62628 T = JCM 36154 T), and YSMS11T (= CGMCC 1.18927 T = JCM 34912 T) represent five novel species of the genus Halobaculum, for which the names, Halobaculum lipolyticum sp. nov., Halobaculum marinum sp. nov., Halobaculum litoreum sp. nov., Halobaculum halobium sp. nov., and Halobaculum limi sp. nov., are proposed.

RESUMEN

INTRODUCTION: Gestational trophoblastic disease (GTD) encompasses a spectrum of rare pre-malignant and malignant entities originating from trophoblastic tissue, including partial hydatidiform mole, complete hydatidiform mole and choriocarcinoma. ß-galactoside α2,6 sialyltransferase 1 (ST6Gal1), the primary sialyltransferase responsible for the addition of α2,6 sialic acids, is strongly associated with the occurrence and development of several tumor types. However, the role of ST6Gal1/α2,6 -sialylation of trophoblast cells in GTD is still not well understood. METHODS: The expression of ST6Gal1 was investigated in GTD and human immortalized trophoblastic HTR-8/SVneo cells and human gestational choriocarcinoma JAR cells. We evaluated the effect of ST6Gal1 on proliferation and stemness of trophoblastic cells. We also examined the effect of internal miR-199a-5p on ST6Gal1 expression. The role of ST6Gal1 in regulating α2,6-sialylated integrin ß1 and its significance in the activation of integrin ß1/focal adhesion kinase (FAK) signaling pathway were also explored. RESULTS: ST6Gal1 was observed to be highly expressed in GTD. Overexpression of ST6Gal1 promoted the proliferation and stemness of HTR-8/SVneo cells, whereas knockdown of ST6Gal1 suppressed the viability and stemness of JAR cells. MiR-199a-5p targeted and inhibited the expression of ST6Gal1 in trophoblastic cells. In addition, we revealed integrin ß1 was highly α2,6-sialylated in JAR cells. Inhibition of ST6Gal1 reduced α2,6-sialylation on integrin ß1 and suppressed the integrin ß1/FAK pathway in JAR cells, thereby affecting its biological functions. DISCUSSION: This study demonstrated that ST6Gal1 plays important roles in promoting proliferation and stemness through the integrin ß1 signaling pathway in GTD. Therefore, ST6Gal1 may have a potential role in the occurrence and development of GTD.

RESUMEN

Achieving room-temperature high anisotropic magnetoresistance ratios is highly desirable for magnetic sensors with scaled supply voltages and high sensitivities. However, the ratios in heterojunction-free thin films are currently limited to only a few percent at room temperature. Here, we observe a high anisotropic magnetoresistance ratio of -39% and a giant planar Hall effect (520 µΩ⋅cm) at room temperature under 9 T in ß-Ag2Te crystals grown by chemical vapor deposition. We propose a theoretical model of anisotropic scattering - induced by a Dirac cone tilt and modulated by intrinsic properties of effective mass and sound velocity - as a possible origin. Moreover, small-size angle sensors with a Wheatstone bridge configuration were fabricated using the synthesized ß-Ag2Te crystals. The sensors exhibited high output response (240 mV/V), high angle sensitivity (4.2 mV/V/°) and small angle error (<1°). Our work translates the developments in topological insulators to a broader impact on practical applications such as high-field magnetic and angle sensors.

RESUMEN

Plant-derived exosome-like nanoparticles (ELNs) have drawn considerable attention for oral treatment of colonic diseases. However, the roles of ELNs derived from garlic on colitis remain unclear. Here, we demonstrate that garlic ELNs (GELNs), with desirable particle sizes (79.60 nm) and trafficking large amounts of functional proteins and microRNAs, stably roam in the gut and confer protection against ulcerative colitis (UC). In mice with DSS-induced colitis, orally administered GELNs effectively ameliorated bloody diarrhea, normalized the production of proinflammatory cytokines, and prevented colonic barrier impairment. Mechanistically, GELNs were taken up by gut microbes and reshaped DSS-induced gut microbiota dysbiosis, in which Bacteroides was the dominant respondent genus upon GELNs treatment. Notably, GELNs-enriched peu-MIR2916-p3 specifically promoted the growth of Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron, an intestinal symbiotic bacterium with palliative effects on colitis. Our findings provide new insights into the medicinal application of GELNs and highlight their potential as natural nanotherapeutic agents for preventing and treating UC.

RESUMEN

Constipation, a common gastrointestinal dysfunction, damages patients' life quality and predisposes them to other serious diseases. Current strategies against constipation often cause drug dependency and side effects. Here, we demonstrated that broccoli-derived exosome-like nanoparticles (BENs), a natural product with high gastrointestinal stability, ameliorated LOP-induced constipation in mice. Specifically, orally administered BENs (17.5 mg/kg/d) effectively shortened defecation time, sped up intestinal propulsion rate, and increased feces amount in constipated mice. BENs also raised excitatory neurotransmitters SP and MTL and reduced inhibitory neurotransmitters VIP and ET-1. Mechanistically, BENs were taken up by gut microbes, restored LOP-disordered gut microbiota, and altered microbial metabolism of SCFAs and tryptophan, as evidenced by the results of fluorescence microscopy, 16S rRNA gene sequencing, and nontargeted metabolomics. Thereinto, BEN-enriched SCFA-producing microorganisms are closely associated with the feces amount and SP and VIP levels and BEN-elevated indole-3-pyruvic acid and 3-indoleacetic acid are highly linked to ET-1, SP, and MTL levels. Conclusively, BENs, mitigating constipation by regulating gut microbiota and microbial tryptophan metabolism, showed high potential to be developed as alternative regimens for constipation.

RESUMEN

Innovative recycling technologies can help curb food waste, yet their implementation often involves trade-offs among different environmental issues and among environmental, economic and social issues. Monetization can provide a solution to integrate all environmental impacts across the life cycle of food waste and to enable a normalized evaluation with economic accounting. Herein, a Chinese regionalized monetization model was applied to various indicators related to the environment, resource depletion and human health to assess ten typical rural food waste recycling technologies in Zhejiang province. The results reveal that biodrying and maturity and two bioconversion options are promising solutions, considering both environmental and economic impacts as well as the shifting of environmental impacts among different compartments as hidden risks. The monetization method proposed here could be applied to other sectors to support decision-making towards more sustainable development.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Th22 subset is a particular type of CD4+ T helper cells subset. Our study aimed to explore the expression level of circulating Th22, Th17, Th1, and Th2 cells and the possible mechanism of these cells in breast cancer (BC) with different pathological features. METHODS: Our study enrolled 43 newly diagnosed BC patients and 30 healthy controls. Frequencies of peripheral Th22, Th17, Th1, and Th2 cells were tested by flow cytometry. Concentrations of IL-22 cytokine in plasma were examined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Real-time PCR was done to test aromatic hydrocarbon receptor (AHR) and RAR-associated orphan receptor C (RORC) gene expression. RESULTS: Frequencies of Th22, Th17, Th2 subsets, and the plasma IL-22 level was obviously higher in the BC patients. A positive correlation between Th22 frequency and IL-22 concentration in plasma was detected in BC patients. Furthermore, the percentage of Th22, Th2 subsets in peripheral blood of HER2 positive BC was higher than that in HER2 negative BC patients. A negative correlation between Th1 subset and Ki-67% as well as a positive correlation between Th2 subset and Ki-67% was found in BC patients. The proportion of Th1 cells in BC patients was significantly lower than that of the control group. Expression of AHR and RORC transcription factors were also observed to be upregulated in the BC patients. Furthermore, Th22 cells were positively correlated with BC tumor stage and clinical outcomes. The BC patients with a higher percentage of Th22, Th17, Th1 cells or a lower percentage of Th1 cells showed a decreased trend of survival rate. CONCLUSION: Th22, Th17, Th1, and Th2 subsets may play an essential role in BC patients. Th22, Th17, Th1, and Th2 cells may have potential significance to be used as clinical markers in BC patients with different molecular classification. Th22 cells may have potential value in BC patients' outcomes prediction, providing clinical value.

RESUMEN

To screen out sweet-waxy maize varieties with low accumulation characteristics suitable for planting in lead (Pb) and cadmium (Cd) complex contaminated soils, 39 maize varieties were selected, and the enrichment characteristics and differences of grains and straws on Pb and Cd were studied through field trials. Maize yield, bioaccumulation factors, and soil Pb and Cd risk thresholds were used as evaluation indicators for screening low accumulation maize varieties. The results showed that there were significant differences between the yield and Pb and Cd contents in grains and straws of different varieties of maize (P<0.05). Bioaccumulation factors of grains for Pb and Cd were in the range of 0.00003-0.00230 and 0.01-0.15, respectively, and those of straws for Pb and Cd were in the range of 0.003-0.065 and 0.64-4.28, respectively. Through the cluster analysis of bioaccumulation factors, the soil Pb and Cd risk thresholds of different varieties of maize were comprehensively obtained:Huitian 5, Xinmeitian 818, and Yunuo 9 could be safely produced in the farmland with Pb and Cd content exceeding the risk control value, and Tianguinuo 937 and Jinwannuo 2000 could be safely produced in the farmland with Cd content exceeding the risk screening value. Huitian 5, Xinmeitian 818, and Yunuo 9, as low Pb and Cd accumulation varieties, were suitable to be popularized on Pb and Cd polluted soil in Guangxi, China. Tianguinuo 937 and Jinwannuo 2000, as low grain and high Cd accumulation varieties, are suggested to be used as phytoremediation resources.

RESUMEN

The efficient delivery of anticancer agents into tumor microenvironments is critical for the success of cancer therapies, but it is a prerequisite that drug carriers should overcome tumor vasculature and possess high drug contents. Here, we found that photoinduced inflammation response caused the migration of neutrophils into tumor microenvironments and neutrophils transported neutrophil-targeted nanoparticles (NPs) across the tumor blood barrier. The results showed that tumor delivery efficiencies of NPs were 5% ID/g, and they were independent of particle sizes (30-200 nm) and their doses (108-1011 NPs). To efficiently deliver anticancer agents into tumors via neutrophils, we fabricated carrier-free paclitaxel nanocrystals (PTX NC). The results showed that neutrophil uptake of PTX NC did not impair neutrophil tumor infiltration, and the sustainable release of PTX from PTX NC in tumors was regulated by paclitaxel protein complexes, thus improving the mouse survival in two preclinical models. Our studies demonstrate that delivery of nanocrystal drugs via neutrophils is a promising method to effectively treat a wide range of cancers, and we have also identified a mechanism of drug release from neutrophils in tumors.

RESUMEN

Single-crystalline high-κ dielectric materials are desired for the development of future two-dimensional (2D) electronic devices. However, curent 2D gate insulators still face challenges, such as insufficient dielectric constant and difficult to obtain free-standing and transferrable ultrathin films. Here, we demonstrate that ultrathin Bi2SiO5 crystals grown by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) can serve as excellent gate dielectric layers for 2D semiconductors, showing a high dielectric constant (>30) and large band gap (~3.8 eV). Unlike other 2D insulators synthesized via in-plane CVD on substrates, vertically grown Bi2SiO5 can be easily transferred onto other substrates by polymer-free mechanical pressing, which greatly facilitates its ideal van der Waals integration with few-layer MoS2 as high-κ dielectrics and screening layers. The Bi2SiO5 gated MoS2 field-effect transistors exhibit an ignorable hysteresis (~3 mV) and low drain induced barrier lowering (~5 mV/V). Our work suggests vertically grown Bi2SiO5 nanoflakes as promising candidates to improve the performance of 2D electronic devices.

RESUMEN

Rapid advancements in DNA sequencing technologies are providing new approaches for bacterial taxonomy. The genus Sabulilitoribacter is a member of the family Flavobacteriaceae, which consists of more than 150 genera. In this study, genome sequence analysis was conducted to revisit the taxonomic status of Sabulilitoribacter arenilitoris and Sabulilitoribacter multivorans, the only two species of this genus. Genome sequence based phylogeny analysis showed that the genus Sabulilitoribacter was non-monophyletic: S. multivorans, the type species of genus Sabulilitoribacter, was clustered with the type species of the genus Flaviramulus, whereas S. arenilitoris formed a robust cluster with the only two species of the genus Wocania. The values of average amino acid identity, genome-wide average nucleotide identity, alignment fractions and some phenotypic features showed that S. multivorans was more closely related with the type species of the genus Flaviramulus than with S. arenilitoris, and S. arenilitoris was more closely related with the only two species of the genus Wocania than with S. multivorans. Based on these results, we consequently propose that S. multivorans and S. arenilitoris should be reclassified as Flaviramulus multivorans comb. nov. and Wocania arenilitoris comb. nov. respectively.

RESUMEN

Background: Lung cancer is the most common cause of cancer-related mortality in the world. Unfortunately, more than 50% of patients have already metastasized at the time of diagnosis, contributing to morbidity and mortality. Common sites of metastasis are adrenal glands, liver, bone, and brain. Bladder metastasis is rare and should prompt a careful differential consideration of primary bladder cancer. Case description: Here, we report a 72-year-old female who went to the hospital for "gross hematuria for one day". Cystoscopy showed space-occupying lesions in the bladder. During the general CT examination, space-occupying lesions in the lower lobe of the lung were found. Peripheral lung cancer with multiple lymph node metastases, pulmonary metastasis, and left pleural effusion were considered. Transurethral cystoscopic resection of the bladder tumor and pleural effusion cell block examination were performed to clarify the diagnosis. Combined with morphological and immunohistochemical results, both pathological results supported a diagnosis of lung adenocarcinoma metastasis, and gene detection was carried out. EGFR, ALK, and ROS-1 were negative. According to the genetic testing results, there was no corresponding targeted drug, so we administered chemotherapy, and one-year survival was achieved, which was better than expected based on other studies. Conclusion: This paper describes a case of lung adenocarcinoma metastatic to the bladder and includes a review of the literature to provide clinicians with diagnostic and treatment experience and help avoid misdiagnosis and mistreatment.

RESUMEN

Owing to rapid property degradation after ambient exposure and incompatibility with conventional device fabrication process, electrical transport measurements on air-sensitive 2D materials have always been a big issue. Here, for the first time, a facile one-step polymer-encapsulated electrode transfer (PEET) method applicable for fragile 2D materials is developed, which showed great advantages of damage-free electrodes patterning and in situ polymer encapsulation preventing from H2 O/O2 exposure during the whole electrical measurements process. The ultrathin SmTe2 metals grown by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) are chosen as the prototypical air-sensitive 2D crystals for their poor air-stability, which will become highly insulating when fabricated by conventional lithographic techniques. Nevertheless, the intrinsic electrical properties of CVD-grown SmTe2 nanosheets can be readily investigated by the PEET method instead, showing ultralow contact resistance and high signal/noise ratio. The PEET method can be applicable to other fragile ultrathin magnetic materials, such as (Mn,Cr)Te, to investigate their intrinsic electrical/magnetic properties.

RESUMEN

The development of two-dimensional (2D) electronics is always accompanied by the discovery of 2D semiconductors with high mobility and specific crystal structures, which may bring revolutionary breakthrough on proof-of-concept devices and physics. Here, Bi3O2.5Se2, a 2D bismuth oxyselenide semiconductor with non-neutral layered crystal structure is discovered. Ultrathin Bi3O2.5Se2 films are readily synthesized by chemical vapor deposition, displaying tunable band gaps and high room-temperature field-effect mobility of >220 cm2 V-1 s-1. Moreover, the as-synthesized Bi3O2.5Se2 nanoplates were fabricated into top-gated transistors with a simple device configuration, whose carrier density can be reversibly regulated in the range of 1014 cm-2 just by a facile method of electrostatic doping at room temperature. These features enable it to be functionalized into nonvolatile synaptic transistors with ultralow operating energy consumption (∼0.5 fJ), high repeatability, low operating voltage (0.1 V), and long retention time. Our work extends the family of bismuth oxyselenide 2D semicondutors.

RESUMEN

Pseudomonas syringae pv. actinidiae (Psa) is a Gram-negative bacterium causing the kiwifruit canker disease, resulting in serious economic losses to the kiwifruit industry. This study investigated the use of an endophytic fungus, Fusarium tricinctum, obtained from the kiwi plant (Actinidia chinesis) as a potential biocontrol strain against the Psa. F. tricinctum showed an inhibition rate of 59.5% in vitro against Psa. Bioassay-guided isolation was conducted on the cultural broth of F. tricinctum and seven new imidazole alkaloids, (±)-fusaritricine J ((±)-1) and fusaritricines K-P (2-7), and four enniatins (8-11) were identified. Their absolute configurations were established through extensive spectroscopic methods, quantum chemical calculations, and X-ray single crystal diffraction. Compounds 1, 4, 5, and 8-11 showed comparable anti-bacterial activities against Psa as positive control, with MIC values of 25-50 µg/mL. Further cell membrane permeability assay suggested that the most active compound 4 could destroy the bacterial cell wall structure. Hence, F. tricinctum metabolites could be applied as potential anti-Psa agents, and F. tricinctum could be considered a biocontrol strain for the control of the kiwifruit canker disease.

RESUMEN

Ultra-high dose rate irradiation has been reported to protect normal tissues more than conventional dose rate irradiation. This tissue sparing has been termed the FLASH effect. We investigated the FLASH effect of proton irradiation on the intestine as well as the hypothesis that lymphocyte depletion is a cause of the FLASH effect. A 16 × 12 mm2 elliptical field with a dose rate of ~120 Gy/s was provided by a 228 MeV proton pencil beam. Partial abdominal irradiation was delivered to C57BL/6j and immunodeficient Rag1-/-/C57 mice. Proliferating crypt cells were counted at 2 days post exposure, and the thickness of the muscularis externa was measured at 280 days following irradiation. FLASH irradiation did not reduce the morbidity or mortality of conventional irradiation in either strain of mice; in fact, a tendency for worse survival in FLASH-irradiated mice was observed. There were no significant differences in lymphocyte numbers between FLASH and conventional-dose-rate mice. A similar number of proliferating crypt cells and a similar thickness of the muscularis externa following FLASH and conventional dose rate irradiation were observed. Partial abdominal FLASH proton irradiation at 120 Gy/s did not spare normal intestinal tissue, and no difference in lymphocyte depletion was observed. This study suggests that the effect of FLASH irradiation may depend on multiple factors, and in some cases dose rates of over 100 Gy/s do not induce a FLASH effect and can even result in worse outcomes.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVES: The COVID-19 pandemic has forced many healthcare organizations to stop the placement of undergraduate nursing students. As a result, undergraduate nursing students need the necessary training and practice to increase their competency. Therefore, effective strategies are needed to improve the effectiveness of online internships. This study aims to evaluate the impact of online cardiovascular health behavior modification training on nursing undergraduate students' health education competency and clinical decision-making perceptions using the Conceive-Design-Implement-Operate (CDIO) model. METHODS: This study utilized quasi-experimental research with a non-equivalent control group design. Nursing students undergoing internships at Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University, Shanghai, China, from June 2020 to December 2021 were enrolled in this study. The participants were allocated into two groups, experimental and control groups. All participants completed a course designed to promote healthy behavior modification. The experimental group participants completed four modules through an online training course based on the CDIO model. The control group was given theoretical lectures on the same topic online. Health education competencies and clinical decision-making perceptions were assessed before and after the training. Statistical analysis was performed using IBM SPSS 28.0. RESULTS: A significant difference was observed between these two groups in their performance on the theoretical test (t = -2.291, P<0.05) and operational assessment (t = -6.415, P<0.01). The participants in the experimental group scored better than those in the control group. Post-test results indicated that students in the experimental group demonstrated significantly better health education competency (t = -3.601, P<0.01) and clinical decision-making perception (t = -3.726, P<0.01). CONCLUSION: The study found that online courses based on the CDIO model are compelling. The study concluded that online classes are needed during the pandemic as it does not limit time and space. Nursing students can take their internship from anywhere as long as they can access the internet. Also, the study found that the online course was interactive and collaborative.

RESUMEN

Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cells have revolutionized the treatment of multiple types of hematological malignancies, but have shown limited efficacy in patients with glioblastoma (GBM) or other solid tumors. This may be largely due to the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment (TME) that compromises CAR-T cells' delivery and antitumor activity. We previously showed that blocking vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) signaling can normalize tumor vessels in murine and human tumors, including GBM, breast, liver, and rectal carcinomas. Moreover, we demonstrated that vascular normalization can improve the delivery of CD8+ T cells and the efficacy of immunotherapy in breast cancer models in mice. In fact, the US FDA (Food and drug administration) has approved seven different combinations of anti-VEGF drugs and immune checkpoint blockers for liver, kidney, lung and endometrial cancers in the past 3 years. Here, we tested the hypothesis that anti-VEGF therapy can improve the delivery and efficacy of CAR-T cells in immunocompetent mice bearing orthotopic GBM tumors. We engineered two syngeneic mouse GBM cell lines (CT2A and GSC005) to express EGFRvIII-one of the most common neoantigens in human GBM-and CAR T cells to recognize EGFRvIII. We found that treatment with the anti-mouse VEGF antibody (B20) improved CAR-T cell infiltration and distribution throughout the GBM TME, delayed tumor growth, and prolonged survival of GBM-bearing mice compared with EGFRvIII-CAR-T cell therapy alone. Our findings provide compelling data and a rationale for clinical evaluation of anti-VEGF agents with CAR T cells for GBM patients.
